So being from the general Chicagoland area, I’m keenly interested in things that happen around there. This morning I see on the Yahoo news feed that they (yes, they know who they are) have officially crossed me and changed the name of the Sears Tower to Willis Tower. Are you kidding me? All I can think of is Different Strokes, and everybody who is anybody knows that that is just wrong. It’s not enough that they put in those glass rooms that stick out off of the side of the building that scare the living bageezis out of most people that I know. Notice I didn’t say me, because…
1. I know that I am not in any way afraid of heights, and
2. I would be whippy and smart enough to both assess the weight limits and do comparison math in my head in complete judgement of the other people who might dare step into that glass room at the same time as me.
My darling daughter has been in the observation deck area of the Sears Tower. I’m pretty certain that she will love the glass room. Whenever there is a hint that I am going somewhere even near the city (because I tend to use the word city rather loosely when I go out), she always says to me “Make sure you take your friends to the Sears Tower. It’s AWESOME!!” There is no way that she will ever, ever, ever tell me to take someone to the Willis Tower. It is just wrong. I know they hold the naming rights, but sheesh, think of the children!
