Alrighty, then. So the whole olympic thing didn’t quite work out. I realize that it would have been a complete fiscal disaster for the state, but I still wanted it. Now, I’ve gotten over it. Go RIO. It’s still the Olympics and I’ll love every minute of it. Besides, it’s going to be great to see another country show their stuff.
Today we celebrated the 50th anniversary of my roomie’s high school by attending the open house of the school. Homewood Flossmoor High. I don’t know what’s up with all of the high school pride lately, but it’s there. It took forever, if I have to be honest. Not in a bad way. Well, the hour and a half drive each way to get there and back was bad. In the rain. But wandering his school was really quite awesome. He went to an incredible high school, and I was jealous. My son, who is going to attend my old school, is now wishing he was attending his dad’s old school instead. Whereas mine was built for a rural community (at the time) and has only the most basic of amenities such as classrooms, a library, a gym, a field-house, my husband’s old school has an olympic swimming pool, and a full wood-shop, a working auto mechanics shop with hydraulic lifts, workout rooms that hold more equipment than the Lifetime Fitness I used to work at, and a working radio station as well as a working television station! Oh my, I can’t forget the hockey rink, the kick ass auditorium for the drama department, photography studio, graphic design classrooms, CAD design and drafting, as well as CANOEING in the bio pond (whatever the hell that means) and fencing, of all things. We didn’t even go into the North building but I had seen plenty and was tired out by the time we finished looking around in the main building, and we didn’t even really see all of it. I can see why there is some serious Viking pride down there on the south side, and I’m glad we went. Look how happy he is at the old locker…

Sometimes you take one for the team, you know? Happy weekend!!
the 50th anniversary part…funny!
