So bad

In Nothing to it but to do it on October 12, 2009 at 10:21 am

I’ve been really bad lately, I know.  I am supposed to blog every day, at worst every other.  I have been very tired lately, and also very busy, and I have realized that after working during the day, I can only keep my eyes open and muster the energy for one thing a night, pretty much.  So I can paint the foyer, OR blog.  Not both.  I’m getting very little done around here.  My work is suffering because I used to do a lot of it at home and lately I haven’t been bringing it because I know that if I do it, that will be it for the night!  Who wants their entire day AND night to be work?  Ugh.  Anyhow, I am expending my energy and mental brain power on spending time with the kids instead of looking at this little white box on the table.  There have been a couple of times I squeaked a blog entry out in the morning before work, but that risks making me late getting in.  It’s not that we haven’t had things going on.  Maybe I should make my husband do it for me when I’m unable to muster the strength!  That could be interesting.

Hubby finished the painting project for me.  It looks really cool and completely different.  I even have some photos, as bad as they are.  The color in the photograph is not really representative of what it actually looks like due to the flash (looks baby blue, but it’s really more of a subdued blue/green), but you can at least see how much it changed the room.  Please avert your eyes from all the crap in the background.  We’re also in the process of rearranging the entire house, installing a new tv, and installing trim.  Nothing is in its place right now, although I am remarkably calm about it.

Before After

So being as tired as I am, it got me to thinking that we needed to rearrange the entire family room adjoining!!  I love it when things change, I really do.  As a reward for doing all of the difficult manual labor, he got his birthday present early.  Big ol’ flat screen HDTV.  I would have waited, but I found a deal on the specific one I KNEW he wanted (he’s been looking for YEARS).  The timing couldn’t have been better, either, as our old tv (left behind by my parents when they went to the new house) has been on the fritz for about a month or more and he’s been watching it with a flickering screen full of staticy lines.  A television watching saint, I say.  After rearranging all of the furniture, including a piano, he puts his new tv in the cabinet, all excited, and realizes that he needs to spend the rest of the weekend doing trim work before he actually puts the cabinet in place or we’ll have to move it again sooner than later!  Add to that his absolute promise to the kids that he would put up some Halloween decorations this year that HAD to be kept.  Trust me, he squeaked in a couple of shows and a partial of a football game, but he did do lots of work this weekend.  Things are looking much better around here, and I’m liking it.  A LOT.

Overall my new regimen of supplements and concoctions seems to be having positive effect, aside from not touching the sleepiness.  When I am home all day without work, I can function pretty well all day and night.  I’m not perfect, but I feel like I’m on the way up as opposed to down like before.  Mostly feeling somewhat normal, aside from when I wreck it by going out all night.  Sometimes you have to do those things though, so I just suck it up because whose fault is it anyhow?  Yep.  Mine.  I wish it didn’t hit for two days after, though, because one day is seriously plenty.  The second day is just like a reminder that I’m old, and nobody likes that.

Today the kids are off of school for the blessed Columbus Day.  Here’s the plan:

  • Blog post to try to redeem myself.
  • Drink the concoction “resting” in the fridge and hope to improve because of it… no pressure.
  • Make breakfast.
  • Work on sewing CC’s halloween costume.
  • Bake a pumpkin pie with the fresh pumpkin puree CC and I made yesterday, use leftover pumpkin to make a pumpkin loaf bread for some breakfast this week.
  • Make and cook a meatloaf for dinner which includes making bread crumbs from my special ezekial bread.
  • Bring in the work I have been driving around with from my car and actually do it.
  • Start knitting the poncho CC asked me to make for her three weeks ago.  Find the yarn I bought to knit the poncho CC asked for three weeks ago.

Seems completely reasonable, right?  Yeah, ok.  I left out the mundane stuff, like go through the 10,000 pieces of paper and mail stacked up on my dining room table, do the laundry, clean the bathrooms, empty the dishwasher, bathe and shave the dog, etc.  You know I cut myself a lot of breaks around here, my goal is 20% completion.  Wish me luck, and have a great Columbus Day everyone!  I have to get crackin’!!

  1. love the room. Love that color!
You are inspiring me to make pumpkin pie too! I have a sugar pie pumpkin waiting for me to do something with it. Happy monday holiday!

    • I was a bit bummed, the pie used all of my fresh pumpkin puree, and I roasted two sugar pumpkins! No pumpkin bread for me, and I was looking forward to it! Like I had time… pfft.

  2. I’m liking your room color! Looks great. Does your hubby know how lucky he is to have the wife ok buying a big screen t.v.? I am not even mentioning that to my hubby. He just mentioned to me we need to replace our old one since it can no longer handle 3 different gaming systems plugged in at one time. WTF?
