I have a whole slew of drafts never posted. They’re all blank, of course, or contain 1/2 of a sentence at best. I have good intentions of posting, but once I open the computer my eyes immediately start to close, and I can’t even muster the strength to type with my eyes closed. Yep, I tried. Lots of nonsense words and typos. Being as tired as I am, I also haven’t been doing much of anything that’s even worth mentioning on a blog. Or, wait, did you want to hear about me laying on the couch staring off into space? Alright, it’s not quite that bad, most times I don’t do that. It just feels that way. Of course, it could be worse.
I could be the parent of the child who was run over by the bus this morning at my daughter’s school. Uh, yeah… run over. Or rather, I should say parked on? That’s how my daughter described it (although to be fair, she is 8 and she didn’t actually see it… thankfully… a friend did and told her). She said that the students were yelling to the bus driver to back up because the bus tire stopped on top of the child’s pelvic/leg area and when the teachers arrived on the scene they had to push the bus backwards off of the child. A note came home from the principal today to “share information about an unfortunate situation that occurred today” Apparently the child “suffered leg and pelvic injuries that are very serious, but not life threatening.” I’m sure the parents are completely relieved that the principal personally joined the boy at the hospital so that they could be HANDLED by school staff from the very first moment upon arrival.
What is happening at these schools? Just recently there was the exhaust incident at my son’s school (I refuse to acknowledge that they claim it to be a non-toxic tar fume any longer), and before that a bus accident while the kids were exiting the buses that sent loads of kids to the hospital, and now someone was actually run over at my daughter’s school! If I felt smarter, at this point I would be seriously contemplating home schooling. My kids would never forgive me, I certain. As much as they claim to hate school, I know that they would want to punch me in the face after the first week of home schooling and go back to public school. Not to mention, I’ve never met any home schoolers who are just regular people doing their teaching thing, and by that I mean not affiliated with a church. Nothing wrong with it, but just not really my scene. There aren’t any non-public school, non-parochial school educational institutions to choose from around here that I know of, either. My options seem rather limited, and I wonder what will be left of our school system after everyone’s done suing the pants off of everybody?
Becky..WTF??
WTF?? Crazy shit at the schools. I would be beside myself. Especially since the schools seem to be not really available for parents and their concerns.
And hey, don’t underestimate the power of zoning out on the couch
