I know, on and on about the Renegade Holiday Craft Fair.  Brace yourself for this nonsense twice a year, forever.  This will be the last of it this time around, ok?  I just wanted to share the booths I found to be my favorites (well, enough to take a card, anyhow).  There were a few booths that didn’t have cards out, either they never had or ran out of them.  Renegade really brings together some amazing people with lots of unbelievably creative ideas and this list is absolutely not complete!  I could probably list 100 jewelry vendors without blinking an eye but I wouldn’t want to go on and on.  Of course that’s where we’re going to start!

Jewelry

Jill K. Davis was probably one of my favorites.  She has a great idea that she utilizes in a number of different ways.  Rings, charms, pins, all with a cute little house as the central element.  It’s friendly and it speaks to me.  Then over to the side of the booth there’s one pendant that just says “HI” which makes me crack up and I’m done for.

I was kind of bummed for the adorn jewelry booth.  They were tucked up into a room that was a bit dark, and until I touched one of their pieces, I didn’t realize the design was living jewelry.  I couldn’t see the faux moss and stones.  Once I realized, I was enthralled with every piece, but I just don’t feel that they were getting the attention they deserved because it was more difficult to see than I would have liked.  Each one was a mini landscape!!  This was another artisan who had a really unique idea that was really well executed.

Faryn Davis of Fernworks was a really nice guy and had some REALLY cool stuff.  This is another one I saw at the last Renegade Craft Fair, and I was glad to run into his booth again.  He makes some of the neatest jewelry; hand painted wood coated in resin, making pendants, charms, rings, earrings.  They are COOL.  He also encases found objects in resin, and over the summer my kids loved them.  The bee, ladybug, and tiny skull were their favorites.  Unique and beautiful.  He was also super friendly at the booth.  I liked everything about this, product, presentation, and personality.

I liked leighelena, but my husband did not.  It was a booth of enameled copper used in various jewelry pieces:  cuffs, large rings, earrings.  I really liked it but didn’t purchase any since I was Christmas shopping, and with a difference of opinion between us and its quirky appeal I wasn’t sure it would be well received.

For the Home

I have a thing for ceramics.  Sodabyamy had such sweet designs.  They had the cutest charms, but they also had vessels, and wallpaper prints for hanging and fabric and sketch books and so many nice things.  I really liked the milky white porcelain with the colored glazing.  She has some really pretty colors.  The designs on her items are really cute, too.

Speaking of ceramics, redraven studios is also in the ceramics biz.  They had porcelain buttons, hair clips, belt buckles, and jewelry with natural elements on them, such as birds, which is what we Frank girls love.  I think that they were decals, but they had a vintage look to them that I liked.  Plus, how often can you find a girly belt buckle?  Not that often, let me tell you!

avec mes mains sells really cool screenprinted lamps.  I picked up one of their cards because I liked both the design of the lights as well as the design of the graphics on the linen.  Plus, my house is too dark.  I couldn’t purchase at the fair, but I will certainly be looking at their stuff again.

The seller iamhome was really cool.  I remember seeing them at the Renegade Craft Fair over the summer months, too.  They have original and thoughtful creations.  They have a variety of things for the home, but my favorites were the tree magnets and forest paintings.  I think it’s a really clever idea to put a forest on your fridge or create a mini landscape on any metal surface, really.

Toys?

I think everyone already knows how I feel about Damned Dollies.  Seriously, they are so wonderful that I can hardly contain myself.  I’m really kind of bummed that I didn’t get myself (or a friend) a Damned Dollie brooch for Christmas, but I didn’t have the cash, and I don’t know that I would have been able to decide.  At least with the Christmas ornament I’ll be able to laugh all over again every year.  I keep going to the tree to look at her, she is just amazing to me.  Such a great idea.  I love it!!

Clothing/Textiles

Kelly Ventura had some really cool screen printed jersey scarfs that I liked.  The designs were down to earth and nature inspired, and I see on her etsy shop that she also has some neat ruched jersey scarfs that I love.  Really nice colors, too.

Simonsara was another screen printing booth that I liked.  They had cute-as-a-button tea towels for the kitchen that I really liked.  I couldn’t purchase them because “giving someone kitchen towels for Christmas is not gonna happen,”  but I would buy them as a “just because” gift or for myself any day.

Camille Canales of la otra camilla made a sale off of me!  I can’t divulge, but I will say that her screenprinting and needlecraft were great!  She had so many cute things from doggie hoodies, and girly scarves, to pillows, and curtains for the kitchen all in lots of cute designs.  She also has classes on screen printing and embroidery that she teaches locally.  Very friendly at the booth and appreciative of the purchase.   I like her.

Finally, Little Ocean, who sells some of the most fantastic upcycled clothing items rounds out my list.  She also has a blog on blogspot I am going to begin following on my bloglines account so I can stay current on what she’s doing.  Really nice things.

Ok, I think that about does it.  Like I said, there were so, so many talented artists and crafters with great ideas that I couldn’t capture them all.  And no, no compensation for the critique, and no this is not a Christmas list.  Happy browsing!
