Queen B

Part Deux

It’s like Christmas all over again!

I went to work today, and then when I got home, as I have been doing every day for the last two weeks, I had to do some baking.  My father in law is coming tomorrow for a visit and gift exchange with the hubby and kids, and we decided that he was as eligible for a Christmas baked goods basket as anyone.  I currently have 8 loaves baking in the oven.  Four carrot bread, and four apple bread.  Throw in a loaf of cornbread that I made on Sunday night and we’re all good.  My house smells divine.  Like apples and cinnamon.  I’m tired.

We made lots of progress on the critter bookshelf house yesterday.  No pictures, since I worked all day and it was dark when I got home today.  I hate flash photographs on my snappy camera.  We got the floors laid for the master bedroom and nursery along with the wall paper on the walls on that level.  It’s colorful, with just enough glitter to make it freaking adorable!  We installed astro turf on the lowest level to make a front yard for the kids to play, and made a faux exterior of the front of the house by making green siding painted on paper and brick printed scrapbook paper.  The hubby painted two scenery pieces for the sides with rolling hills, blue sky, and puffy little white clouds.  We haven’t installed those yet, CC plans on making some trees to paste on to the scenes and I think that it would be easier to do it before I put them up on the insides of the cabinet.  I also made the cutest little picnic table for her rooftop deck out of popsicle sticks and hot glue.  I’ll update and post pics when I can get some natural light.  Tonight, while CC napped on the couch (instead of getting in her bed like she’s supposed to), I made her a front door and windows out of popsicle sticks and hot glue, which is apparently my genre.  I think that she should paint the door yellow, but I’ll leave it up to her.  I think we’ll use a pretty brass button for the door handle.  It’s looking pretty darned good, if I do say so myself.  I have this fear that the creating is the most fun part, and once it’s done she’ll never touch it.  I am hoping that wouldn’t happen, but I fear that she won’t have a chance to prove me right, because this project may never be done.

I’ll let you in on the fun tomorrow (er, just looked at the clock, I mean later today!) when I take some new photos.  Now it’s time for me to go to bed.
