I’m fairly new to digital photography. I learned how to shoot on my step father’s Canon AE-1 35mm manual. I have since been shooting primarily on the Canon A-1 my grandfather willed to me, and occasionally on a Canon Eos Rebel G that we bought when my son was born. Film. I love film. There will never be anything digital that compares to the sound and feel of manually advancing the film on my grandfather’s camera.
Digital photography is cool in it’s own way, too.
The photographs on my site are digital and 99.9% straight out of the camera. Occasionally I’ll use the scanner to get an old pic on the site. Although I own Photoshop, I go by the philosophy that Photoshop is not a style of photography, and therefore do very little (read: none) post processing. Besides, it’s complicated and I’m still learning. Photography, and Photoshop, that is. Oh yeah, and I’m not trying to be a professional photographer so all of the above is rather irrelevant. And I’m lazy.
That being said, here’s what I’m using:
Canon 5D Mark II
Canon EF 50mm 1.2 lens
I am currently involved in some serious negotiations for additional equipment.
Did I mention that I also believe that any camera is a good camera? Therefore, I also take some of my shots with my iPhone, straight or using Instagram, or my point and shoot Sony CyberShot.
I don’t use a flash. I don’t own a flash. Maybe someday I’ll get a flash.
